In a recent “The Washington Post” article made by Michael Lee in (Fall 2023) starts off with the author introducing Bob Fitzgerald, who was a play-by-play announcer for the warriors in 1999. He’s dabbled with voice over work before, so this wasn’t very new for him. Fitzgerald provided his voice, but not his identity, as he played the role of Bob Steele in NBA2K, which Visual Concepts produced for Sega Sports and then ESPN over the next six years. When his son scored 174 points in NBA2K, he finally realized that his hour.- long sessions he had to spent announcing every possible score combination had been worthwhile. When his broadcasting coworkers complained that they could always hear his voice anytime their children played the game, he laughed.
